Where do you work?

I work from my home near Porter Square in Cambridge, MA.  Street parking is available.

How do you schedule the evaluation?

All testing sessions are conducted during the day, M-F.  We will discuss optimal timing, days of week etc. to devise a schedule that works best.  We will also choose whether the evaluation will be conducted in-person, via tele-health, or a hybrid of both.  Physical proximity to Cambridge, age of student, needs of student, Covid-19 prevalence/restrictions, are some of the issues that help determine scheduling and the nature of the evaluation meetings.

What happens when I arrive with my child?

I will greet you and your child, and we will chat casually to get acquainted and review the agenda for the day.  Depending on age of your child and comfort level, you may choose to leave and return at the completion of the session, stay in the waiting area, or a combination of both.

How should I introduce the evaluation to my child prior to our arrival?

While the language we use is age-dependent, the message I communicate is positive and curious.

I like to emphasize that we will work together to identify how students learn best, what they like and don’t like, what comes naturally, and what might be more challenging.

This will help me make recommendations to parents and teachers to best address a student’s unique profile and help students work to their potential.

I refrain from using the term “testing” and instead emphasize the collaborative nature of the experience.

How else can I prepare my child?

A good night’s sleep, breakfast or lunch (depending on time of day we meet,) and bringing a snack (we will take breaks,) are recommended.  Because I work from home, many students like a special snack that I may offer or a drink, so please inform me of any food allergies.

How long will it take to receive the written report?

I work very hard to get the report to you as quickly as I can.  I value the timeliness of the report.  I will keep you apprised on the estimated time of completion.  If you have a specific date that you are working towards, please let me know ahead of time.

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance directly.  If requested, I will provide you with an itemized billing form with insurance codes so you can submit to your insurer.  Please keep in mind that not all insurance plans offer a neuropsychological evaluation benefit.  Insurance plans typically do not cover the academic portion of the evaluation, nor do they cover issues that primarily pertain to academics.  I recommend calling your insurer to understand if you have a benefit and what that entails.

What does an evaluation cost?
